WELCOME TO THE CITADEL. STATE YOUR BUSINESS.
You've climbed the steps to the Upper Side and now you stand before The Citadel. This isn't a tourist spot. You'll find no glowing lanterns or exotic spices here. This is the grim, stone heart of Port Sunder's government and the barracks of the City Watch. Built on a high bluff overlooking the harbor, its walls are thick, its gates are guarded, and its purpose is singular: to maintain order in a city that thrives on chaos. This is where the Governor and the Council try to steer this rowdy ship of a city.
MEET THE CAPTAIN: VALERIUS STONECUT
Captain Valerius is the commander of the City Watch, a man whose family helped lay the Citadel's foundations. He is tall, stern, and his face looks like it was carved from the same granite as the walls he protects. He's seen every kind of trouble the sea can spit out, from pirates to street gangs, and he has no patience for any of it. He doesn't care about your prophecy or your quest; he only cares about the law.
"I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE A DWARF-FRIEND OR AN ELF-LORD. IN PORT SUNDER, YOU OBEY OUR LAWS. YOU DRAW STEEL IN MY CITY, YOU ANSWER TO ME. YOU CAUSE A BRAWL, YOU SPEND A NIGHT IN THE CELLS. WE ARE A CITY OF LAWS, NOT A BACK-ALLEY SCRAP. KEEP YOUR BUSINESS CLEAN, AND WE'LL HAVE NO TROUBLE. IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?"
LORE & SECRETS
The Citadel represents Port Sunder's fierce independence. While the rest of Lythos bends to kings and ancient magic, Port Sunder is run by its people (or at least, its wealthiest citizens). Recently, the Citadel has been stretched thin. The rising darkness has brought new threats, with unsettling reports of Draugr (undead) stirring in the crypts outside the city. Lord Elowen himself has dispatched the elven warrior Galador Voidwalker to aid the Watch, a sign of how serious the situation has become.
